lol funny..
madison i know we differ on the paterno thing(statue) but when it was be taken down and i was watching it 2 points came to my mind.
1. being a history buff it kinda reminded me of statues of fallen dictactors being taken down. lenin, stalin, saddam…and i just got to thinking is the man really equal to those people…i think not..
however if you do,
2. then is it not the height of hypocricy that john paul 2 is being made a saint and nobody is trying to take down any statues of him. the catholic church for decades knowingly allowed thousands of young boys to be abused and never fired the priest that abused them just moved them to other churches as if those new parrishes didnt have any boys there…
just 2 observations..wheter or not you agree or disagree with penn st. to remove statue you have to admit he is not stalin and he is not the pope maybe somewhere in the middle..maybe….or to the left of both of them…maybe…or well i dont know but it makes you think on what do do with all of those statues…
ps please dont think i am making like of the abuse down by sandusy..i think it is disgusting n he should never see another free day in his life…
My biggest problem with the statue is that it’s a rallying point and a target. Leaving it up could only mean trouble in terms of vandalism or violence of some kind. I think they want to move it to a less trafficked place on campus. That might not be a bad idea.
As for pope statuary, the church has to figure that out but they have nothing to be proud of and should seriously consider a halt to beatification.
