Remembering the Titanic’s 100th, Part I

April 14th, 2012, 9:37 pm · 1 Comment · posted by

Usually on anniversaries and birthdays we attach the word “happy.” OK, so happy probably isn’t the best term to use in association with one of the largest seafaring disasters in world history. But the celebration of the Titanic’s sinking on April 15, 1912 certainly seems like a party in this modern age – with special 3D movie re-release from James Cameron, no less. Ugh.

Anyway, I tracked down this editorial cartoon with a Titanic bent to re-release on this 100th anniversary of the Titanic’s sinking. It’s by Pat  Bagley, a cartoonist who leans left and works for the Salt Lake City Tribune. She used the Titanic as a way to make a point about laying political  blame several months ago. It could probably be used for whatever party isn’t in the White House. Change the elephant to a donky and voila!

And the band played on.
